Favourite coaching tool and why:

My favourite tool is a base, a structure, and a concept of how the coaching program is organized.

This builds trust and understanding connected to expectations.

Straight after we have achieved that with a coaching client, I invest my time into understanding them as they now know what I can do for them.

That means that I focus on understanding the person’s background, pain points, and bottlenecks. What they feel they are missing and what they like to improve or learn more about, what they like to polish and fine-tune.

This resulted in me understanding what I believe will be of the greatest value for us to invest our time in, making sure that my clients get the best possible ROI, and keep in mind that the client invests both time and money so it’s not just providing a financial value but also making sure that the people I work with improve how they spend their time.

That’s why the next step for me is to tailor the program together with the client to make sure that we focus on what gives the most value to them.

Favourite coaching tool and why:

The best coaching tool any coach can utilise is active listening. Your clients have the answers within themselves, but helping them truly listen to themselves, hold that space for them and challenge them can be the most powerful tool you have as a coach in serving your clients.

Never underestimate the fundamental change that can occur from holding the space to let someone hear themselves and awaken awareness.

Favourite coaching tool and why:

The ‘Three Choices’ Exercise: Leave it, Change it, or Accept it 100%. Based on a passage from Eckhart Tolle’s NYTimes bestselling book, The Power of Now, this framework is both practical and profound.

Applied to a challenging situation, the surrounding anxiety is immediately mitigated when the client recognizes that they have exactly three reasonable choices: leave the situation, change the situation, or accept the situation 100%.

I love the effect that this tool has – it alleviates concern and worry over situations that are not in the client’s control, empowers the client to be in the driver’s seat of the factors they can change, repositions the client to solution-mode, and can open the door to an acceptance practice.

Favourite coaching tool and why:

My favorite coaching tool is not a tool. It’s a shift in consciousness or awareness.

…Because the world doesn’t give you what you want. It gives you who you’re being.

A lot of people go around thinking they can just wish for stuff and maybe it’ll show up. It doesn’t work that way.

The way we make our desires manifest is by aligning with them.

It’s the moment we realize that we can believe ourselves into being who we would need to be to create what we want…

It’s in this way when we align ourselves to who we’re consciously deciding to become, that our action steps (or the “tools”) automatically click into place.

Enjoy and conjure up the best life you can imagine for yourself!

Favourite coaching tool and why:

Creating transformation through storytelling and visualization

Through twenty years of working with clients, I have found immense success, as have my clients, with the use of two tools: storytelling through metaphors and visualization.

Metaphors

As an emotional intelligence expert, I want to use tools that measure the emotional meter of my client.  This will uncover aspects of themselves such self-awareness, triggers, and the motivation to address their underlying challenges.  To do so, I need to tap into the world of my client, through the use of metaphors.

Metaphors are real-life connections, and people easily relate to them.  The examples that I use are customized to the context of my client’s life, and become easily translatable and expand a client’s self-awareness and consciousness.  It allows the coaching process is to bring the best out of the client so they can solve their own problems and build the skills they need for transformation and resilience.  I have found great emotional connection with my clients through the use of metaphors, and have seen people grow emotionally with this process.

Visualization

The second tool I use on a regular basis is visualization.  As a registered clinical hypnotherapist, visualization is a powerful tool to tap into subconscious world of the client.  To tap into the unconscious mind to create the reality of the conscious mind.   80% of our experience is visual, so it is important for us to use this conscious and unconscious sense for goals setting and outcomes for the client.  If you can visualize it, you can materialize it (Manji, 2022).

I am very driven to be solution focused, and these tools generate a lot of success.   It’s all about creating a natural experience for transformation that as a coach, you guide your client to manifest themselves.  These tolls serve intuition, create solutions, and motivate and keep them accountable to create the shift that they are looking for.

Conclusion

We appreciate all the successful coaches for taking the time and share their favourite and most effective coaching tools. We hope these tools will help other coaches to improve and grow their coaching businesses.
