How Long Does it Take to Build a Website for a Coaching Business?

Last Updated : November 3, 2022 By Rana Leave a Comment

Anyone who is looking to build a website for their coaching business will be wondering how long does it take to build a website?

There is no one right answer to this question. In fact, it depends on the following:

  • Your website goals
  • Type of website
  • Features and functionalities
  • Budget
  • Content and design complexity

These are the fundamentals you should be able to answer before you start building your website. Once you are clear on these, defining the timeline for your website will become a lot easier.

How long does it take to build a website

Following are the three main types of website that we will discuss.

  • Brochure website
  • Lead generation website
  • Complete online coaching website

Brochure website

A brochure website is the most cost-effective and eye-catching solution for your business.

It is the most commonly used website these days. The main goal of a brochure website is similar to a business card or a printed brochure. It reflects who you are and what you do.

Number of pages:

A brochure website is a relatively simple website with minimal pages. Following are the main five pages including in a brochure website:

  • Homepage: It is the most essential page of your website. Homepage is the first thing your clients see when they visit your website. It should be well structured, designed and include intriguing content.
  • About Page: The about page gives you room to showcase your brand’s vision but most importantly about yourself.

People do not do business with companies, they do business with people. This is a place to tell them about your business, who you are, how you’re different from your competition.
  • Product/Service Page: Product or service pages focus on offering the maximum information about your product/service.

Description, features, packages, and pricing should all go in this page.
  • Contact Page: A contact page gives your user all the necessary information they need to get in touch with you or your company.

You should consider adding a contact form, email address, phone number, physical address, and social media links to this page.
  • Legal Pages: Legal pages are a must have for every website, it includes the privacy policy, terms and conditions, terms of service, cookie police, and website disclaimer.

Features

The functionality and features of your website also play an important role in determining the timeline for your website development.

Following are the basic features of a brochure website:

  • Creative content
  • Aesthetic colour scheme
  • Fast load time
  • Contact form
  • Reviews and testimonials
  • Social media links

How long does it take to build a brochure website?

A basic brochure website should not take more than 2-4 weeks of development time to make it live. However, this does not include the design time.

You can spend as much time as you like on the design or simply use a pre-built template and have your website live within 2-4 weeks.

Other factors that can affect your timeline:

  • Content creation
  • Content arrangement
  • Deciding CTAs
  • And so on

Here’s an example of a brochure website:

Lead generation website

A lead generation website is more complex than a brochure website. A brochure website along with detailed information pages or a blog makes a lead generation website.

The website’s main goal is to generate leads and ultimately convert them into sales. A lead generation system is the key element of such a website.

Number of pages:

A lead generation website includes all the pages that a brochure website does for instance:

  • Homepage
  • About page
  • Contact page
  • Product/Service page
  • Legal pages

However, it is important to note that these pages will be more complex and contain more design as well as content on a lead generation website.

Apart from these, following are the pages included in a lead generation website:

  • Landing pages: A lead generation website has multiple landing pages and each with  its own importance. The purpose of a landing page is to convert visitors into leads.

Each landing page can be about a specific product or service with different CTAs rather than having multiple CTAs on the same page.
  • Blog page: Lead generation websites mostly have a blog page because the main goal is to drive traffic to your website and ultimately generate leads, and blogging is an excellent way to do that.

If you have a blog that is being regularly updated, and you’re creating content around your business, it will positively affect your website traffic.

Also, there’s nothing more valuable than providing helpful content to your visitors for free.
  • Privacy policy page: Data protection rules and regulations are becoming more strict with each passing day. A privacy policy page explains how you will be using the data that is being collected or the personal information clients are providing.

Whether or not they will be shared with third parties, how the data is collected, where it is being stored, and how it will be used must be made crystal clear.

Features

Following are the essential features of a lead generation website:

  • Engaging content
  • Eye catching headlines
  • Fast load time
  • Social media links
  • FAQ section
  • Reviews and testimonials
  • Mobile friendly
  • Analytics
  • Opt-in forms
  • Quick access contact information
  • Pop-up lead generator

But the most important feature is the lead generator installed on your website.

It is highly important to have a system in place to capture emails from your website visitors and get in touch with them on a regular basis.

Clarifying and creating one valuable resource that has enough value that your prospects can give you a key to their inbox is the backbone of a lead generation system.

Having the lead generator appear as a pop-up has proved to increase the conversion rate upto 60%.

How long does it take to build a lead generation website?

On average, a lead generation website can take upto 2-4 months, depending on the design, complexity and features you would like to be added.

Other factors that can affect your timeline:

  • Content creation and arrangement
  • Design
  • Creating the lead generator
  • Deciding appropriate CTAs
  • Deciding the plugins
  • Additional functionality
  • Images

Here’s an example of a lead generation website:

Online coaching website

A full-fledged or coaching website has combined goals of a lead generation website, a brochure website, and a few more like:

  • Increased number of registrations or signups
  • Generating quality leads
  • Increasing website organic traffic
  • Expanding the email subscribers list
  • More sales

In conclusion, the main goal of a coaching website is to generate sales, whether it’s through selling a course, book, or training program.

Number of pages:

An online coaching website includes all the pages that a brochure website and lead generation website does for instance:

  • Homepage
  • About page
  • Contact page
  • Product/Service page
  • Legal pages
  • Landing pages
  • Blog page

Nevertheless, these pages will be more complex and may contain more content and information than the above.

Furthermore, an online coaching website will have pages other than the above, including the following:

  • Testimonial Page: A testimonial page includes all the reviews, text and video testimonials, and feedback of those clients that have worked with you.

It should also include your rating and reviews from Google, Facebook, Trustpilot etc. These testimonials and reviews can play a very convincing role in establishing your credibility in the industry and also improve your conversion rate.
  • Meet the Team Page: Meet the page is an excellent place to display your team and their expertise.
  • Terms of Serve Page: Terms of service can be addressed in the privacy policy page but it is recommended to have an individual page for this purpose. It will not only give your visitors a sense of security and but will also legally protect you from any unforeseen circumstances
  • Events Page: An event page includes all your upcoming events, webinars, seminars, speaking engagements and so on. It gives insight to your clients and an opportunity to register for them.
  • Login Page: If you’re selling courses or training programs, you would need a separate login or membership page where your clients can login and access the information they have purchased.
  • Checkout Page: Checkout pages are also very important when you’re selling something online whether it’s a course or book. The checkout page should be followed by individual and relevant thank you pages.

Features

A full fledged coaching website has a lot more features than a regular website. Following are the few most important ones:

  • Learndash
  • A scheduler/booking system
  • Lead generation system
  • Opt-in forms
  • Search bar
  • Professional headshots and images
  • Engaging content
  • FAQs
  • Social media links
  • Analytics
  • Mobile friendly
  • Multiple payment options
  • ADA compliant
  • Live chat

How long does it take to build a complete online coaching website?

A complete coaching platform or website is far more complex than a regular website, therefore, the development time is also much higher.

It can take anywhere from 3-6 months to complete, even more in some cases depending on the complexity of the design and features.

You can save a lot of time if you already have your content, images, and design in place. Once the website is developed, necessary changes can be made later on rather than changing minor things in between as this can also increase the development time.
